Touristic Center
Today, as interest in tourism keeps growing, Enguri HPP is of particular importance in this field too. Under the decree of the Government of Georgia of 14 March 2017, a range of attractions is planned on the territory adjoining the Enguri dam. The project provides for a discovery centre, viewing platforms, a panoramic lift, a cable car and a zipline, and at the same time for the development of water sports. The Enguri tourist zone is expected to serve up to 400,000 visitors a year.

Worldwide, the practice of building tourist attractions on monumental sites of industrial heritage is known from only a handful of comparable projects, one of them the Hoover Dam (California, USA). Yet, given its multidisciplinary attractions and its science and discovery centre, the Enguri HPP tourist zone will have no equivalent anywhere in the world in the medium term.
