Representatives of the Austrian company Verbund visited Enguri HPP. During the visit the foreign specialists toured the territory of the arch dam, examined the existing structures in detail and carried out work to assess the level of the information technology system in use at the organisation. In order to draw up the terms of reference for introducing digital management, the main task of the Austrian experts is to examine the control system of Enguri HPP and to obtain detailed information from representatives of the operations service.

It should be noted that in December 2022 a tender was announced for moving Enguri HPP to digital management. The initiative comprises three stages: 1. an audit and analysis of the existing situation and the definition of the technical parameters, 2. the procurement of the software together with the corresponding equipment, and 3. the introduction of digital management.

The tender was won by UGT LLC, whose subcontractor is the Austrian company Verbund (51% of which is owned by the Austrian state). It was to carry out the first stage of this project that the Austrian experts came to Georgia. During the visit a working and introductory meeting was held with the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze. The foreign specialists also visited the village of Saberio on the territory of Abkhazia. The Austrian experts studied the specifics of the operation of the electrical and mechanical equipment installed there.
